Lake Afton – Final trip for the year

It is kind of sad, but this was our last trip to the lake in the trailer for the year. We set out to have some fun relaxing, fishing and enjoying the weather for a weekend. We did just that.

Jeff’s Birthday

Jeff got him a fishin’ pole this year. Not just any pole, a Hawg Seeker. This one has electronic fish detection and a really long pole. Here he is with the pole and his cake later.

Restoring old family films

I don’t know why, but my last vist to the folks house I decided to borrow the old family films and projector. I intend to convert them to something usable in this century. I will be posting them here as well as going to DVD format.

Kansas and .38 Special

Penny and I went to see the concert at First Council Casino. It was great!
We ate dinner at the buffett in the casino and watched a great show. The stage was set up in the parking lot, and an area was roped off with plenty of seating. It was a beautiful night and a concert under the stars. We even went into the Casino and won a little bit after the show. All in all, a great evening.

A summer visit to St. Louis

Clayton and Jeff visited Mom and Dad in August. We had a truly wonderful time! We saw a Cardinals game in the new stadium. We went fishing at Creve Coeur Lake, and even caught some fish. Clayton did an upgrade to Mom’s computer as well. We spend several days visiting and playing cards too. All in all, a great visit. Thank you Mom and Dad!

Lake Afton in July

At the last minute on Friday night, we decided to go to Lake Afton for the weekend. It took about 40 minutes to get the camper and truck ready, and Jeff and Clayton were on the road. Penny followed a little later with the rest of the ‘in progress’ laundry.
It was a nice relaxing weekend. We spent a lot of time fishing, but Penny is the only one to actually catch something. It wasn’t for lack of trying.

Beaver Lake – Table Rock

We spent a week in the Ozarks with Gayle and Darlene, and had a great time. We started at Tom and Louis’ Mother’s house in Garfield, AK. on Beaver Lake. She has a nice house and dock and a boat as well. We camped in her front yard with Gayle and Darlene. We did some chores for her while we were there, later got some boating and swimming in. We stayed two nights and had great cool weather while there. Video at the end of post.

Mid June at Lake Afton

Here we go again. It seems like we always go to Afton. Oh well. At least it’s camping.
This time Gayle and Darlene came out, and used their camper. Gayle’s friends Daryl and Jen also came out and camped in their hybrid travel trailer. We had a great time, and caught some fish. We did some swimming and enjoyed ourselves as usual.

Memorial weekend at Lake Afton

We did it. We braved the crowd and camped at Lake Afton Thursday night through Monday. We took Jeffrey and his friend Tyler. We found ourselves a semi secluded spot away from the crowd. We had a lot of fun. We did some fishin’ and some swimin’ and some campfire. Penny and I went fishing Friday morning and each caught a small fish. — UPDATE — Video is done. Seth Graduates

Our nephew Seth graduated Saturday. We are so proud. We spent the day at Jo and Tom’s and celebrated. They had a get together for family and friends after the ceremony at their house. We had cake and hamburgers and hot dogs. We had a great time. Pictures are here.

Riverfest – Kansas Concert 2009

Jeffrey and Clayton head to West Bank Stage to see Kansas perform. We met up with Tom and Louis and had great seats to watch a great performance. The crowd was large but manageable this year. We all had a great time.

JQuery equal height columns

Columns of equal height
I was frustrated trying to find an easy way to make all my columns the same height. I finally just put together a simple jQuery script to do just that, without using a jQuery plugin.
Note: This post was updated 1/8/14 for the newest version of jquery, and cleaned up the post. If you view source on the Demo, you can get a clean copy of the entire file.

Penny Graduates from CNA school

Penny and Steven finished their CNA (Certified Nurse Assistant) class this week. We are all proud of them. They learned lots of interesting things and are on their way toward a new carreer in the nursing field.
