Camping again at Afton

We ventured out on Saturday morning for a one day trip to Lake Afton. It was supposed to be warm. It was warm and windy. Oh well. We got a little fishing in, but mostly just hung out and enjoyed each other’s company.

Bon Jovi Concert

Penny and I went to the Bon Jovi concert at the new Intrust Bank Arena. It was a great concert. They’ve still got it after 27 years. A really good performance and the stage show was awesome. They had lots of movable screens that displayed live video as well as produced content. A really top notch show. Video at the bottom of this post.

First Camping trip of 2010

We finally got a descent weekend and ventured out to Lake Afton.
We de-winterized the trailer Thursday after setting up in the driveway. Everything is in working order.

New Arena Open House

Penny and Clayton went to the open house for the new Intrust Arena in downtown Wichita today. This is the only time we will be able to see all the private dressing rooms, locker rooms and such. Plus we wanted to see the new place. Wow, it is really nice. They have enough concession stands and bathrooms, that’s for sure.

Jeff gets his learner’s permit

Here is a scary video. Jeffrey gets his permit today and he and his Mom and Dad go to the school parking lot to get the first experience behind the wheel.

Penny adopts a new dog

Penny adopted her a nice new dog. Jax is a Siberian Husky. All white with blue eyes. He was at the Humane Society where Penny has been volunteering . She really likes him and he is a hit with the rest of the family also. He is 1 year old, so there is still a lot of puppy in him.

Christmas 2009

Here are several days worth of pictures. We had Christmas with Steven and Chandler on Wednesday, Penny, Clayton and Jeffrey on Christmas morning, Chris and Steven and Brandy, that afternoon. Then Christmas with the whole family at Grandma and Grandpa Van Campen’s house on Sunday.

Jeffrey’s Winter Concert

Jeff had another concert on Dec 15th. We are all very proud of him. He and his grade were definitely the best. They played last and were worth the wait.

Birthday at the gig

Penny planned to have a celebration of Clayton’s 50th birthday at the gig on the 19th at Bourbon St. Bar & Grill. I was totally unaware of this plan. They caught me by complete surprise! It was fun. She brought out a cake in the afternoon and revealed it during our first break. Awesome.
She invited several friends out just for the party. It’s nice to know I have so many friends.

Haysville Fall Festival 2009

Penny and I spent an hour or so in the afternoon and checked out the Fall Festival this year. Pretty much the same thing it always is. We browsed the crap, I mean craft vendors. We watched a little of the tracktor pull. We even saw a junior band (tweens jamming the classic rock).

Halloween Party 2009

Clayton and Penny went to our friends’ Daryl and Jen’s Halloween Party this year. We were glad to have been invited this year after hearing so much about it from Gayle and Darlene. We had a great time! Clayton went as Slash, and Penny was a zombie nurse!
