A Close Call – Spring Tornadoes 2012

We weathered another spring storm with tornadic tenancies. This one was close! Saturday was deemed a likely day for tornadoes all across Kansas. I assumed they were over doing it, like the news media does lately. All day we had nothing but winds and clouds, until 9:30 p.m. The weather guys predicted a tornado was churning up from Oklahoma and would hit Haysville at 10:25. We hunkered down in the Basement, and around 10:25 the power went off! We let it wind down after nothing more happened, and ventured outside, no damage! Sunday we ventured out to 79th street, just 1/4 mile south, and found lots of tree and fence damage. The tornado didn't really touch down, but did do some damage and then east of us, showed its full power. East of Broadway, it left a wake of damage, through a mobile home park (Always), and then to Spirit Aerospace(Formerly Boeing). It was classified an EF3. Chiefs vs Raiders

This game didn't go so good for the Chiefs. We had fun anyway! It was very cold, in the high 20's, but we dressed for it. We all had lots of layers and stayed warm. This time we got to see the new upper deck part of stadium. The Chiefs started out ok, but soon lost their momentum. They lost the game but it didn't really matter because they already sewed up their playoff spot. They won their division and play in Arrowhead next week. They play the Baltimore Ravens.

Haysville Fall Festival

This year I wanted to see the band "Wolfgang" that was playing Saturday night in the park. Several of us from our band went to see them. Barry came over around 6:00 and we rode over to the festival. We found Kim and Rob there already. Jim and his son showed up right before the show. We had a great time. What a fun band. These guys really rock! They play 80's rock. New Arena Open House

Penny and Clayton went to the open house for the new Intrust Arena in downtown Wichita today. This is the only time we will be able to see all the private dressing rooms, locker rooms and such. Plus we wanted to see the new place. Wow, it is really nice. They have enough concession stands and bathrooms, that's for sure. I shot a few pics of cource.

Haysville Fall Festival 2009

Penny and I spent an hour or so in the afternoon and checked out the Fall Festival this year. Pretty much the same thing it always is. We browsed the crap, I mean craft vendors. We watched a little of the tracktor pull. We even saw a junior band (tweens jamming the classic rock). Riverfest – Kansas Concert 2009

Jeffrey and Clayton head to West Bank Stage to see Kansas perform. We met up with Tom and Louis and had great seats to watch a great performance. The crowd was large but manageable this year. Superbowl!

Gayle had us over for Superbowl again. What a blast. Chris and Mikala came over also. Check out the 3d glasses! There was a commercial for Monsters vs. Aliens, a new animated 3d movie. We were ready with our snazzy glasses.
