4th of July Party

We had our first large party at the new house on July 4th. It turned out great! We invited family and friends and most everyone showed up. We had horse shoes and games and of course shot off fireworks. We set a couple of 4x8 sheets of plywood in the corral area, drug a hose out there, and set off the fireworks to the north. It turned out just as well as we were hoping. The wind was light and nothing started on fire. No injuries either.

Easter 2012 – A Beautiful Day

It's been a while since I last posted. I think it's about time to put something fun up on the web site. Here it is! Easter this year brought the whole bunch, excluding JoDee and Dad. We did the usual Easter egg hunt, both inside and out. We ate some lunch, played some games. We had great weather! A good time all around.

Christmas 2011

We had Penny's family over on Christmas eve this year. We ate Hog Wild BBQ and opened gifts. It went well. We all had a good time. Ping pong was a hit this year. It turns out we have some players in the family!

Week of July 5th at Council Grove

By now I guess you've figured out that we like the camping at Council Grove. This week was no exception. The bridge in the thumbnail picture is in the center of the northeast area of the lake. It must have been there a while, as there are no roads on either side of the lake. Penny and Clayton went out on Tuesday around 4pm. Jenn and the girls arrived a couple hours later. Daryl came out Wednesday night. Jeff, Matt, Corey, and Mike came out on Friday afternoon. We spent the week swimming, fishing, checking out the town, riding jet skis, playing horse shoes, baseball, and just hanging out with friends. Clayton and Daryl caught some fish but I failed to get any pictures of them. It was hot when we arrived on Tuesday, but rained Tuesday night and Wednesday night and cooled it down nicely. Then Sunday the heat returned. We left Sunday around noon and I'm glad we did. Wichita broke the record for that day at 111 degrees! Here are a few of the pictures. Back to Kanopolis on May 27’th

We went back for another weekend in the sun, and wind. We had a great time again. This time we had Jerry, Jamie, their kids, as well as the Pontoon boat they brought. We spent some time cruising in the pontoon boat and hung out at a sandy beach on the other side of the lake. The lake was up about 5 feet from last weekend, so things were a little different. The shoreline near our campsites was a lot smaller. We couldn't play horse shoes there anymore. Jeff didn't bring any friends this time and had fun hanging out with us and Mike. Just after we returned the pontoon boat and the jet skis to the trailers, the wind kicked up in high gear. 50mph. There was a capsized boat near our campsite, and in the morning another one showed up as well. Here are the pictures.

A new Christmas location

This year we had Christmas at our house. Morning and Evening. We had the whole Kansas side of the family over for Christmas BBQ and gift exchange. It worked out great. Everyone had a great time. The food was great. Maybe a new tradition.

Beaver Lake – Table Rock Lake

Clayton and Jeff and his friend Matt went to Beaver Lake for a 4th of July party at Judy Harvey's house. Penny would join them Saturday night as she had to work on Friday. We had a great time at the lake. Shagdaddy played the party, at least 4 of them. Drake, Tom's son played the drums for us. We played 2 sets for the party on Saturday. After the party on Saturday, we spent Sunday swimming and boating and just hanging out having a great time! Monday we headed for Eureka Springs for a little shopping and then on to Table Rock Lake. We stayed at the state park again. We really like that campground. We spent Tuesday fishing, playing some mini golf and some more shopping and dinner. We had a great time in Branson. We headed home on Wednesday. Here is a few of the pictures. Videos at the bottom of this post.

Memorial Weekend At Lake Afton

Jeffrey, his friend Matt, and I all went for a weekend at the lake. Penny joined us Sunday afternoon. We did lots of fishing, swimming and bike riding. We had a great time. Matt had the biggest fish. He caught 2(ea) 10lb catfish. Jeff and I also caught some, not quite that big. It rained Sunday night, but not too bad. Just rain. We left Monday afternoon. What a great, relaxing weekend!

Christmas 2009

Here are several days worth of pictures. We had Christmas with Steven and Chandler on Wednesday, Penny, Clayton and Jeffrey on Christmas morning, Chris and Steven and Brandy, that afternoon. Then Christmas with the whole family at Grandma and Grandpa Van Campen's house on Sunday.
