Posted May 12, 2015I started on the corner chip rail pieces. These have proven to be a real pain in the butt.

I’ve finished with the polyurethane and ready to place the layout on the table! I moved the old table out of the way and moved the new one in it’s place. Vacuumed the dust, and placed some flannel down and then the layout on top.

I installed the T-nuts on the padded rail. I’m thinking about epoxying them as well. I don’t want them to push out after I finish the foam and vinyl.

I know it’s not pretty, but I tried these metal straps to connect the three parts to the padded rail. I was going to use epoxy and some thin type of plastic, but saw these and thought I’d give it a try. With some really short screws, and doubled up, they seem to work fine. Hopefully they won’t be too noticeable under the padding, when leaned on.

Time to start the padded rail. I have some OSB laying around that is long enough.
I put some down on the top, and try to figure this out. I made a jig that is 8″ long to draw a line for the outside dimension.

I need to cut into the table where the dealers would stand. They will need to be able to reach across the table. The table is so huge, they (me) will need all the help they can get.

I started working on the top. I decided to use the 1×12 pine boards. I figured they would be sturdier than 1/2 plywood, and you could lean on them without a problem.

I got my new layout today. This thing is awesome! I had to lay it on the table and check it out.

I started on the two long pieces. The front and the back. They were going to be 10′ 4 inches long. My boards are 8′ long. I doubled them up, but staggered the spliced area. This worked out well. Then I cut the sides down with a circular saw. I would later rip them to a perfect height on the table saw.

I built a fairly nice craps table a couple of years ago and it has gotten a lot of use. See here for the thread about that, and the rebuild after the house fire.

Styx rocked the house at Ks Star Casino Saturday March 21st. It was really great! There was no opening act and the mix was really good. They put on a good show, playing all their hits. I have seen them at lease 6 times, and they never disappoint. Read more to see the video.

I found that on Amazon.com you can get the Syma X5C for $60 or so. I read good things about them and ordered one. Here is some pictures and a video at the end of this post.

Daryl and Mike have birthdays at the end of Feb and 2nd of March, and in the past we have all been known to have been at a casino. This year we went to Harrah’s in North KC.

I decided 4 guitar stands was taking up too much room in my already small music shed. I looked around on the internet and couldn’t find a stand reasonably priced. I did find some how to articles about making your own. I decided to tweak some I found, and create my own multi guitar stand. I had some spare 2×4’s and some leftover carpet.

Penny really misses her old desk from the old house. I thought I would build her one. I took a picture I had, and proceeded to get after it. It took a while but the end product is not bad.
